Q. What type of PDA can be used with MST's Hand Held Software?
A. When considering different PDAs we consider the following:
1. Operating System- To run the latest versions of our software, a PDA needs to have at least the latest version of Windows Mobile software. (Currently 5.0)
2. Processing speed- Even earlier models operating at 200 MHz moved very smoothly through our software. Now 520 MHz is available for as low as $399.00. We recommend using the iPAQ from HP because it is affordable and feature rich.
3. Memory Card Slots- Having multiple memory card slots allows for use of items such as a barcode scanner and a memory card at the same time. If you are going to use our barcode software you will need a unit with two card slots. (CF and SD memory card slots.) The barcode scanner will use the SD or CF Card slot.
4. Backup/Restore-The PDA should be able to back up ALL of its files into one backup file. If it cannot do so on its own, it needs to be able to Sync to a PC using Microsoft ActiveSync. ActiveSync has a backup and restore function. This allows MST to give its customers one file that can be used to update (restore) a specific PDA.
5. Wireless Technology.- If you will be using our wireless software, you should look for a device with integrated Wi-Fi. Additionally, by having access to the internet, even by cell, you will have the capability to transfer the necessary data to the server, eliminating a trip to the office! *Not all models are capable of this feature.

You should do your own product comparison as you would with purchasing a PC. However, you can contact MST before you make your final purchase to make sure that the Pocket PC that you are considering meets the basic requirements listed above.Q. Which laser printers should be used to utilize MST electronic forms option?
A. This would depend on whether or not the printer will accept a file to be stored in ram. Most printers will permit the exchange of data for our forms, but if you want to store the files permanently , you should get a printer that has flash DIMM options. Most Lexmark printers have that option, but you should be sure to either check the specs or contact our support staff to inquire. Flash DIMM memory is different then standard memory in printers. Flash will allow you to write to it and save files and fonts like barcodes, OCR or MICR.
If your printers are shared over a network, you will be able to ftp our forms files from any PC on your LAN, even in remote locations. We developed a transfer tool that will streamline this process for you.
